Frequently Asked Questions

Is your soap Vegan-Friendly?

Yes! All of our soaps are vegan-friendly, but we do use Palm Oil in some of our soaps. Our Palm Oil is sourced from a supplier that is part of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil and is RSPO certified. You can read more about RSPO here: About RSPO

I still don't like the thought of using palm oil. Do you have other options?

Yes! We have several soaps, such as our Kokum Eucalyptus and Cinnamon Cocoa soaps, that do not contain any palm oil at all. All ingredients are listed in the soap descriptions. You can also search for Palm-Free soap in the search function.

My soap isn't lasting as long as the commercial soap I was using. Why?

Handcrafted soaps require a little special care. The properties that make them great - no synthetic detergents, no artificial hardeners - mean that they are likely to get mushy/dissolve if left exposed to high-moisture environments.

Wait - it's soap. It's supposed to get wet.

Handcrafted soaps need to stay as dry as possible between uses. If you use a well-draining soap dish and keep your soap away from direct streams of water, then you'll help your soap last as long as possible. For example, I use a soap ladder and keep my soap at the back of my shower on the upper corner shelf.

I have a nut allergy. Do you use almond oil or other nut-derived oils?

We do use Sweet Almond Oil in some of our soaps, but not all of them. In fact, my favorite recipe (the one made with Avocado Butter) doesn't use any at all. I will always list out the ingredients of a soap in the description for clarity.

I just ordered. How long will it take to ship?

I try to ship within 24 hours, barring Sundays (no service!). Generally, when something is in stock and listed, it's ready to ship - I don't currently take pre-orders. The only exception to that is a Custom Soap Sampler. If you have ordered multiple custom soap samplers in one order, that may take an additional day or two as custom soap samplers are created at the time of the order.

How long can I wait to use your soaps and scrubs?

I recommend using them within 6 months for best results. If you wait much longer, sometimes the colors and fragrances will fade. The soap will still clean, and will still be fine to use - it just may not smell as strongly or may have faded colors.

Will my soap look exactly like the soap in the photos?

No. I do my best to get a good representation of the soap for the listing, but the nature of handcrafted soap means that each bar is going to be a little different and a lot unique! Please expect some variations.

I see some products, like your lotion bars, use beeswax. Is it sustainably sourced?

Yes! I vet all of my suppliers to ensure that materials are sustainably sourced. As a gardener, I know the importance of the honeybee population and work hard to raise awareness around the declining bee population. The beeswax that I use in my products is sustainably sourced, cruelty-free, within the U.S.A.
